The three reports agree on the facts that matter and on the gap. Updates and security patches continue through mid-2034. Devices whose 10-year update policy extends past 2034 are the ones described as eligible to move to Googlebook OS, and the wording is that many of the newest models will qualify, chiefly newer commercial ones. Google says eligibility details and migration paths will come later, so no one can yet check a specific laptop against a list. Chromebooks that do not qualify keep receiving updates through their existing policy, so nothing here forces an early replacement. Our read for a remote worker: if your current Chromebook works and its update date is well before 2034, ignore the news. If you are buying now, prefer a model whose update policy runs past 2034, but do not pay extra for it as a guaranteed upgrade, because Google has not confirmed which models qualify.
